As the trial of Peru's ex-president Alberto Fujimori gets underway, we take a closer look at one of his most extravagant legacies. There was nothing President Fujimori enjoyed more than entertaining the global press by posing: weight-lifting gold bars, eyes glinting with greed. But what happens when gold is found on land on which simple people have based their livelihoods? This is the story of the community of Tambogrande, of how they took on the corporate mining gods and their own President, and of how they won.
